Electoral College blip

Christopher Suprun, a supposedly patriotic Republican from Dallas, Texas is an Electoral College member who will be casting his vote for president on December 19. He claims his conscience will not allow him to cast his electoral vote for Trump who he is designated by his electorate to do; strike one. The first red flag on this faux Republican is the fact that he submitted his op-ed to the New York Times. He must be a fan of the Times, strike two. He is concerned about the future of America. With that in mind, what kind of future does America have when our representatives disregard the will of the people after an election? That is exactly the reason that Donald Trump is our president- elect. He claims that Trump’s policies are unrealistic and dangerous and that is his personal opinion. In his mind, that justifies him disregarding the voting results of hundreds of thousands of his fellow Texans. He claims to be a patriot but defying the will of the people, like Obama does, doesn’t seem to be very patriotic to me. I’m fairly certain that this will be the last time he will have an opportunity as a member of the Electoral College to disrespect his fellow Texans. I don’t believe his fellow Texans will be that forgiving.

I quote Mr. Suprun: “Electors of conscience can still do the right thing for the good of the country”; again, his personal opinion. He has given cover to other like-minded electoral members to defy their fellow constituents. If he can achieve an additional 22 defectors then he will have created an absolutely chaotic mess. He will own it and I feel certain saying that he will endure the wrath of many fellow Texans and many other true Republicans. He further stated that he feels America “should unify behind a Republican alternative, and honorable and qualified man or woman such as Gov. John Kasich of Ohio”. He has easily established himself as a RINO and a useful idiot. I have yet to figure out whose useful idiot he is! With all the national media talking about many electors being threatened and coerced into not casting their electoral ballot for Donald Trump Mr. Suprun decides to insert himself into the fray.

And that brings us to strike three. Mr. Suprun could have quietly cast his vote for John Kasich without having gone to the New York Times with his op-ed. So strike three turns out to be the reason he has done it the way he has done it. He decided in his small mind that he deserved his 15 minutes of fame and he will get it. The liberal TV political pundits are falling all over themselves right now trying to get him on national TV to say the things about Trump that he said in his op-ed. Overnight he will become a liberal media darling and the smartest Republican they know. He will garner many new liberal friends but he will soon find out they are less supportive than were the Republican friends he will lose over this episode. Maybe he is not a useful idiot so much as just a commonplace idiot who has brought national attention to himself for very selfish reasons.

God Bless America!!!
