Trump cabinet picks continued

Let’s cover a few more of Trump’s cabinet picks.

We already know about Trump’s pick as his Chief of Staff,  Reince Priebus, the RNC Chairman who sucked up to Trump at the very end of the campaign but had fought him every step of the way until the end.

Steve Bannon who worked in Trump’s campaign and who appears to be a true conservative has been chosen as Trump Senior Advisor. The Democrats are already foaming at the mouth over his pick and for that reason alone I believe he will be an excellent choice.

Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions has been chosen to be US Attorney General. He has an extensive background in Justice Department business and was the first senator to back Trump. The liberals call him a racist even though he has, in the past, litigated in defense of equal rights and has prosecuted members of the KKK. Again, another excellent choice.

Trump’s pick for his national security adviser is retired Army General Michael Flynn. Flynn has an extensive intelligence background with the Army. He has been a very vocal critic of Obama’s policies towards terrorism. He is not afraid to use the words “Islamic terrorist”. Another excellent choice.

House Representative from Kansas Mike Pompeo is Trump’s pick for CIA Director. He has been very critical of Obama’s Iranian nuclear deal; Hillary’s Benghazi and email scandals; Pompeo believes Snowden is a traitor. This is my kind of man.

The governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley has been picked as Trump’s Ambassador to the United Nations. Haley was a very outspoken critic of Trump throughout the campaign process. Can she now be loyal to a Trump foreign-policy? On those same lines, Haley has virtually zero experience in foreign policy in her own right. To me, Haley is a very questionable pick.

Another person being considered by Trump is Dr. Ben Carson who has been a loyal Trump supporter since he canceled his own presidential bid. You have to know how intelligent he is simply by the fact that he is a brain surgeon. Trump is considering him for Secretary of HUD. I believe Dr. Carson will be a moral, truthful, and loyal member of the Trump administration in any capacity he is given.

Another very questionable consideration for  Secretary of State is Mitt Romney. Romney has been Trump’s number one critic from the very beginning of the campaign. He was a top member of the #NeverTrump movement and was as disrespectful of Trump as any card-carrying liberal. At this point, how could he possibly be loyal to a Trump political platform?

No offer has been made but there is word out that Trump has floated the name Harold Ford Jr. as a possible candidate for Transportation Secretary. Ford is a Democrat who served several terms in the House of Representatives. He has been on Wall Street for the last five years and has developed a friendship with Trump and his children. I guess in this instance “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know”. Ford was a strong supporter of Hillary Clinton and her agenda.  How can he possibly do a 180 and now support Trump’s agenda?

I understand the concept of being able to “reach across the aisle” but when you draw back a bloody stump each time it seems to me that you should stop extending your hand. As everyone knows, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. I believe if the Republicans feel the need to reach across the aisle they need to do it with the sole intent of slapping the crap out of a liberal! That same concept should be applied to the Trump trolls in the Republican Party with Mitt Romney as the poster child. Another name being bandied around for a position in Trump’s administration is Ted Cruz. Ted Cruz was my guy until the last couple of months before he dropped out of the presidential race. I guess I expected more from him. I still believe he is a true conservative and should have a place in Washington politics. He has come very close to destroying his own career and it is ironic that Trump may be the person who saves it for him. I recall the days of the Bush administration when his Secretary of State, Colin Powell, reacted negatively to many of Bush’s foreign policies. Just for the record, Colin Powell turned out to be a Clinton supporter.

I want Trump and his agenda to be successful. There are thousands of loyal Trump supporters from inside and outside Washington that would be highly qualified cabinet members. I see no reason for him to place his opponents in high level positions in his administration. I question his motives for doing so and I also question their loyalty towards his cause. The Godfather, Michael Corleone famously said “keep your friends close and your enemies closer”. As far as cabinet members for Trump I have no problem with his friends being close but his enemies should be kept at arm’s length or ignored totally. I guess I don’t understand (or don’t want to understand) the make-believe personalities of the Washington elites. How can one so easily forget the nasty things that are said during the campaign? “Fool me once shame on you; fool me twice shame on me.”

There are a couple things that have come up in interviews and conversations with Trump that will not sit well with his supporters. He is now saying that he will not prosecute Hillary. That is a bad move on his part. If you promise to drain the swamp you should start with the biggest and most dangerous creature. Not being rid of that creature will eventually return to bite you on the butt. The other major campaign promise Trump made that he is now waffling on is a complete repeal of Obamacare. It is now being said that he may keep some aspects of Obamacare in place. He must repeal Obamacare and get it back to private insurance and healthcare. If he feels there are aspects of Obamacare that would be good then he needs to incorporate them into the new care system. In my humble opinion Trump is already walking a fine line and he hasn’t yet been inaugurated. Backtracking on Hillary, Obamacare, and placing political enemies in his administration have dampened my enthusiasm for his presidency just a little. He will completely lose my support if he fails to begin building the southern border wall immediately upon his January 20, 2017 sworn oath that requires him to protect the people and the Constitution of the United States as President.

God Bless America!!!
