Trump cabinet picks; recap and update is in order. The names
below are Trump’s cabinet picks to date.
Commerce Secretary
will be Wilbur Ross a billionaire friend of Trump’s. Ross is a big critic of
past trade agreements.
Defense Secretary will
be retired General James Mattis. Mattis has clashed with Obama over foreign
policies on many occasions for being too weak on our enemies around the globe.
Education Secretary will
be Betsy DeVos who has been an advocate for charter schools and vouchers. The
NEA and teachers unions oppose her so she must be a good pick.
Health and Human
Services Secretary will be Tom Price a House Representative from Georgia. Price
is a big opponent of Obamacare, abortion, and gay marriage. Who better to
dismantle Obamacare?
Homeland Security
Secretary will be retired General John Kelly who has extensive experience
in border security.
Housing and Urban Development
Secretary will be none other than Ben Carson the brain surgeon. His
opponents claim he has no experience in urban housing but in order to believe
that you have to disregard the fact that he grew up in poor, urban housing.
Even if he hadn’t I’m pretty safe in saying that he is smart enough to figure
out the system.
Department of Justice
Attorney General will be Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions. He was the first Senator
to endorse Trump for President. He has a history of being very unsympathetic to
illegal immigration.
Labor Secretary will
be Andy Puzder a wealthy restaurateur. Puzder has opposed federally mandated
minimum wages in the past. He does have some pro-immigration views that are in
direct opposition to Trump’s.
Transportation Secretary will be Elaine
Choy who is the former Labor Secretary under George W. Bush. She is an
establishment retread with a new title.
Treasury Secretary will
be Steve Mnuchin who is an ex-partner at Goldman Sachs.
The above are 10 cabinet picks that Trump has made to date.
There are still five positions to go and we will cover them below. Keep in mind
that the Senate must approve all of the above picks but the GOP holds the majority.
Barring anti-Trump RINOs interference there should not be enough opposition to prevent
approval of all. By the way, do you recall when Harry Reid invoked the
so-called “nuclear option” to ensure a simple 51 Senate majority to approve
Obama’s picks? That little beauty that Reid has left the remaining liberals as
he walks out the door has come back to bite them on the butt. I believe that is
called “poetic justice”! The hilarious part about the entire process is that
even though their own party initiated the simple majority process it does not
cause them any digestive distress to whine about it now. All we have to hope
for now is the GOP led Senate will not cave to the pressure.
Agricultural Secretary
contender is ex-Governor of Texas Rick Perry.
Energy Secretary contender
is again Rick Perry. Joe Manchin, a Democrat Senator from West Virginia, may
very well be the front runner for this position. Being from West Virginia Joe
has an obligation to protect his states coal industry but he has made little
effort to prevent Obama from destroying it. We once again have a liberal
protecting his party with complete disregard for his constituency. As a lifelong
liberal where do you think Mr. Manchin’s loyalties will lie? Just being a
contender for a position in a Trump administration has brought upon him the
wrath of his fellow liberals. He can’t possibly be a loyal member of a GOP
administration that is in direct opposition to his liberal colleague’s
worldview of climate change/man-made global warming. Fossil fuels and anyone
wanting to use them fall somewhere between scum and slime.
Interior Secretary contender
is, yes you guessed it, Rick Perry. We can also throw ex-Governor of Alaska Sarah
Palin into the mix.
Secretary of State has 12 or so contenders and counting. My choice has been ex-mayor of New York City
Rudy Giuliani. Mr. Giuliani got tired of the bait-and-switch Trump’s been
playing and withdrew his name from consideration. That was very bad news. Is
Trump toying with Mitt Romney just to embarrass him or does Trump honestly
believe that a hard-core establishment Republican is really the man for the
job? I have my doubts. Why Romney is still in contention or even being considered
is a complete mystery to all. Political games confuse me. A late entry that is
being called the top contender now is CEO of ExxonMobil Rex Tillerson. He is
internationally renowned for his business acumen and his exceptional
negotiation skills. I assume that the climate hoaxer’s heads are exploding
right and left.
Veterans Affairs
Secretary contenders are once again Rick Perry and Sarah Palin. The two of
them have got to be running out of hats to throw in the ring. They both seem a
little too desperate to obtain a cabinet position in the hopes of retaining
some amount of relevance in the national political arena. Then again, either
may be very good at any of the two or three cabinet positions they seek.
United States Ambassador to the UN is not a cabinet position
but it is an appointed position by Donald Trump. He has chosen South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley to fill that position. She was a hard-core opponent of
Donald Trump’s throughout the campaign process. She is a typical GOP establishment
insider and should have been one of the creatures drained from the swamp
instead of given such a powerful position in Trump’s administration. She is
weaker on foreign-policy than Trump. I’m obviously missing something here.
Trump is surrounding himself with very smart and very successful
people: retired generals and business moguls who don’t take “no” for an answer.
These are people that are accustomed to getting things done. They don’t
comprehend the “drag your feet” mentality that infests the DC bureaucracy. Their
“Lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way” attitude has brought these
people to the positions they’re in today. What a refreshing concept to infuse
into the Beltway thought process!
God Bless America!!!
