The impossible actually is possible

I read an article on toprightnews.com by Jason DeWitt dated August, 5, 2015. I quote some of his numbers here but the commentary and opinions are mine. Please don't hold Jason accountable for my ignorance.

We continually hear from our Republican national leadership that some things are just not possible: we can't get rid of illegals; we can't lower welfare giveaways. I am able to say that they are full of horse excrement! Nothing is more poignant than a great example.

Governor Paul LePage of Maine promised while campaigning that he would cut out funding to cities that gave welfare to illegals. He also promised to make it more difficult to collect welfare while sitting on your couch. What a novel and rare concept for a politician to promise things while campaigning and then actually do it after being placed in office, but he did! He required welfare recipients to do work hours, volunteer hours or sign up for job-training in order to continue receiving food stamps. I discuss these very concepts in my book "Freedom Permits".

His threat to cut off state funds to cities that provided welfare to illegals worked well. The cities stopped the practice and many illegals have left Maine to find some other sanctuary to live where the pickings are easier. I have long been an advocate of self-deportation. We do not need to put them on planes. They will go home on their own if the freebies stop. As for the Maine food stamp program, enrollment has dropped from 12,000 to 2,500. He has since started a campaign to eliminate abuse of EBT cards (Electronic Benefits). The use of Maine EBT's would no longer be allowed in Las Vegas and Hawaii. Oh. the inhumanity of it all!

Washington, please take note: can you not see the simplicity of fixing illegal immigration and our economy-killing welfare system? It would take such minimal effort and actual governing to accomplish restoration of our country to a reasonably sustainable state. LePage did it in Maine and Walker did it in Wisconsin both while battling blue state populations and liberal legislatures. Am I being a little too simplistic? Maybe, but at least make some effort to prove to us simpletons that Washington is actually on our side and not an elite bureaucracy that has no interest in looking out for the overburdened taxpayer.

God Bless America!!!
