Supreme Court suspense is over very soon

In May of 2016 Donald Trump put out a list of 21 potential picks for the Supreme Court of the United States if he were to become president. Donald Trump is now president. The list of 21 has now become three according to popular speculation.

Neil Gorsuch currently is a judge on the 10th US Circuit Court of Appeals in Colorado. He was appointed to that position in 2006 by George W. Bush. Trump has stated that he wants someone to replace Antonin Scalia and Gorsuch appears to be the one that fits that bill best. I found nothing about him to be very scary. In fact, he is a strict Constitutionalist and has little use for judicial activism. If it isn’t in the Constitution he will not attempt to put it there. He will be 50 years old in August so he could have a long and successful career in the Supreme Court of the United States.

Thomas Hardiman is currently a judge in the 3rd US Circuit Court of Appeals in Pennsylvania. He was appointed by George Bush in 2006. Hardiman is an adamant supporter of our Second Amendment gun rights and that is an important attribute to have on the US Supreme Court. He also supports counties across the US displaying the 10 Commandments, another good attribute to have. He is only 52 years old and he, like Gorsuch, could have a very long career on the Supreme Court.

William Pryor is currently a judge on the 11th US Circuit Court of Appeals in Alabama. In my opinion Pryor has strayed from Conservative principles on several occasions. In one case called Glenn V. Brumby Justice Pryor ruled in favor of a transgender who was hired as a man and one day showed up for work as a woman. The transgender filed a lawsuit against his employer for sexual discrimination after being asked to revert back to a man at work. Pryor and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals sided with the transgender. That proves he has an affinity for the “Commerce Clause" of the U.S. Constitution and its ability to allow activist judges to make up new Constitutional law out of thin air. Another instance was a case called Keeton V. Anderson-Wiley in which a college student refused to engage in a program of “reeducation” on homosexual rights because of her religious beliefs. The college expelled her and Pryor and the 11th Circuit Court upheld the expulsion in direct opposition to her rights in the First Amendment of the Constitution. Pryor also prosecuted Alabama Judge Roy Moore for allowing the display the 10 Commandments at a courthouse when Moore was Attorney General of Alabama. Another strike against Pryor, in my opinion, is the fact that he was appointed to the US Sentencing Commission by Obama. Obama must’ve seen something in him that I probably would not like. If Pryor won’t support constitutionally established religious liberty rights but will support non-existent homosexual rights that are not in the Constitution then Pryor is not a good pick in my opinion. Even though Pryor seems to have managed to rise to the top 3 of possible Trump picks he appears at the bottom of my list.

The replacement for Antonin Scalia will be an important soldier in the battle against the advancement of the liberal/socialist agenda that is hell-bent on the destruction of the United States as we know it. With the weak-kneed Republicans in control of Congress we need President Trump and the Supreme Court to step up and be our Conservative champions. We currently have two solid Conservatives in the persons of Justices Thomas and Alito; two swing votes in the persons of Justices Roberts and Kennedy; four solid liberals in the in the persons of Justices Ginsburg, Breyer, Sotomayor, and Kagan. The makeup of the current court begs for another solid conservative like the late, great Antonin Scalia just for balance. Please Mr. Trump do not give us another swing vote like Roberts in the form of William Pryor. If Gorsuch or Hardiman don't float your boat then please go back to your original list of 21 and start over. With any luck at all Trump will get a second bite at the apple when Ginsburg and/or Breyer exit the court. President Trump, America’s future is in your hands.

God Bless America!!!
