Mandatory voting

In Cleveland, Ohio on March 18 Obama said something like this: "It would be better if voting were mandatory". He didn't say that all eligible voters should vote; he didn't even say that all legal Americans should vote; he just said it would be better if everyone was required to vote (he included immigrants). That leaves it wide open for everyone on American soil to vote. He said it would take the need for money out of politics. It seems to me that if you have to reach out to more voters then it would require more money not less, but then again I am not a political genius like some.

Liberals are opposed to a military draft because it discriminates against minorities and lower income citizens. Wouldn't this do the same thing? Their opposition to voter ID is that the young, the elderly, and the poor minorities would not be able to obtain the ID needed to show "proof of person" thus disenfranchising them. If they can't show up to get an ID how can you expect them to show up to vote?

Obama and his Department of Justice under Holder have taken every state to court that has tried to implement voter ID. Voter ID is the only way to reasonably ensure that the person showing up to vote is the person that is registered to vote. The voter ID would also be the only way to prove that mandated voters are the ones voting and ensure that all the drafted voters actually vote. Who would enforce the law? What would be the penalties for not voting? Could you give the collection of monetary fines to the IRS like with Obamacare? Do you go to jail for not voting or not paying the fine? OMG! What is Obama thinking. I don't believe he thought this one through. But then again, implementing liberal ideology with no regard to consequences is typical.

I honestly hope that mandatory voting is just an  Obama vision and not a future reality. First of all, it would take an amendment to the United States Constitution to accomplish this; not an easy task. Secondly, I am here to tell you that there are a large number of Americans who are too ignorant to vote. Do not confuse ignorance with stupidity, although there are a great number of stupid voters out there also! I mean ignorant in the context of not knowing any specifics of a candidate's ideology. A small amount of research can turn an ignorant voter into an informed voter. But as comedian Ron White said: "You can't fix stupid". A stupid voter is one who votes on a personal single-issue or a single-issue candidate. If you vote for someone solely because of their age, skin color, religion or lack of, ethnic background, sex or sexual orientation you are a stupid voter. I don't mean that you can't vote party-line because party-line does encompass a large number of reasons to vote for that particular candidate. Although if you vote liberal you may fall into both categories of dysfunctional voter. I digress, but then I knew I couldn't get through this entire blog without some form of disrespect for liberals. I speak my mind: liberalism is a mental disorder and political correctness is one of its symptoms.

God Bless America!!!
